Apple-Apricot-Smoothie-Bowl with Carob Balls

I came to really like large smoothie-bowls. Most of the times, I prefer making thick smoothies and spooning them for three reasons.

1. Culinary pleasure. Drinking a uniform mass is not that entertaining. In a smoothie-bowl, you can add different components that keep you excited.
2. Generally, the more water a smoothie contains the more energy does it take to digest.
3. When drinking a smoothie one tends to not insalivate the liquid, which among other things makes it again harder to digest.

Serves 2. Preparation time: 15 min


  • 6 oranges, peeled
  • 12 (dried) figs
  • 4 tbsp nut purée
  • 4 tbsp carob powder (or cocoa powder)
  • 1/4 of an unpeeled orange, sliced very finely with a sharp knife
  • (dried) fruits of your choice, preferably berries


Blend the oranges and figs with as much water as you need for your preferred consistency. Put the nut purée and the carob powder in a small bowl and mix it with a spoon until you get a formable mass. Add more carob powder if needed. Form a few balls with your hands. Toss the Smoothie with the carob balls in a bowl. Top with the (dried) fruits and thin orange slices. Enjoy!

I added a little gelee of balsamic vinegar in a corner (mix a tiny little bit of flour of guar seeds with the vinegar and let sit for a few minutes) and one fermented chilli.
