There are a lot of things one can do to have a good start into the day. Some people swear by meditation, yoga or music. For me, a good morning routine must include a good breakfast. This overnight porridge is one of my favourites in the colder seasons. The flavour is just really bringing light into those dark days. I like it best when letting it sit outside of the fridge before serving for at least half an hour so it can warm up a little bit (or warm up in a pan).
Serves 2. Preparation time: 5 min plus soaking for at least 30 min
INGREDIENTS
- 3/4 cup of oats
- 1/2 of tangerine zest and a little more for grating
- 4 tsp cocoa
- 2 cinnamon
- 2 pinches grounded clove
- 1 1/2 tsp quinoa
- 3 tbsp sweet dried fruits (like dates, mulberries, figs, …)
- 1 cup plant milk
- fresh fruits as you like
METHOD
Cross chop the tangerine zest very finely. Put all the ingredients in a bowl, except the fresh fruits and chill in the fridge overnight or for at least 30 min. Cut the fruits, add them on the porridge and grate tangerine zest on them.
To clarify – should we use uncooked quinoa?
Either way is okay. I used uncooked quinoa (mainly for texture) which is okay to eat in such small quantities 🙂
